How was your experience in our Botanical Bothy?
Just WOW – what a special place and treatment. I felt completely spaced out but rejuvenated by the end of this, it was like nothing I have ever experienced before, Raquel the therapist was an incredible guide through the session. I loved it.
What do you think of our Bertioli Breathing Balm?
I love it – It really is the most incredible balm, I use it daily, it really does add to breathwork, I find it very soothing and brings focus to me when I am using it. I have enjoyed using it when I have a bit of a cold too.
How would you recommend someone embarking on their breathwork journey makes small steps to start?
As I said, committing consciously to 4 diaphragmatic breaths 4 times a day will get you started, and before you know it you will be using your breath without out thinking about it. There are breath works shops and guided breathing apps that you can use too, such as insight timer, if you would like a more in-depth start on your breath work.
Do you ever use scent in your practice?
Sometimes, but I should do more especially for stress management – I also encourage the use of mints, eucalyptus and rosemary for their antimicrobial properties and also relaxation
How important is scent to our wellbeing? Is there a connection?
From a functional medicine standpoint, the impact of scent on wellbeing is quite significant. It's not just about pleasant smells, it's about how these scents interact with our limbic system, the part of the brain responsible for emotions and memories. For example, aromatherapy utilising essential oils like lavender has been shown to lower cortisol levels, thus reducing stress. The link between our olfactory system and our neurological and hormonal responses is really interesting.
