Art for Charity Collective: Top Tips on How to Buy & Hang Art in Your Home
Art for Charity Collective (ACC) is a platform for artists to showcase their work, connect with each other and potential buyers, all the while contributing to charitable causes. Founded by landscape artist Lucy Kent and Flea Chipchase; their partnership seeks to support the artistic community whilst always considering and giving back to charities in need.
Since September 2020 and through their ethos ‘Collect Art + Give Back’, ACC has raised nearly £300,000 for several different charities including, A Space Between, GOSH, UK to Ukraine, Hands Up Foundation - supporting the emergency earthquake appeal in Syria and Turkey and our current charity partner, Tusk.
ACC is a place where artists can connect, sharing ideas, networks and inspiration whilst providing a platform for buyers and followers to discover and acquire carefully curated art. Their collaborative ethos means, contrary to the gallery model, ACC doesn’t ask for exclusivity with their artists and will always provide transparency, sharing buyer’s details and helping to foster collaboration, inspiration, and growth.
Why buy art through Art for Charity Collective?
ACC has carefully brought together over 100 established and upcoming artists from around the world. Printmakers, painters, photographers, digital creators, and ceramicists; all with a wide variety of styles, range of price points and all similarly brilliant and talented. Our artists include Christabel Blackburn, Jemma Powell, Fred Clarke, Phoebe Dickinson, Rose Electra Harris, Gina Soden and Scarlett Bowman; to name but a few. A percentage of every sale will always go towards supporting our current charity partner.
How to begin collecting and find original art that you love
Lucy and Flea insist that you buy a piece of art because you love it and will never tire of it, that is first and foremost. Art doesn’t have to be expensive. Always be discerning and brave. If you’re looking for something in a particular style it’s better to settle on a good example of this type of work from an exciting emerging artist, than to scrimp and buy something second-rate from someone better-known. ACC can provide guidance in this regard, helping clients navigate the art world and make informed decisions based on their preferences and the quality of the artwork, rather than solely relying on names or trends.
Consider your budget and don’t forget framing
Set a budget making sure you make allowance for framing! The framing of a picture plays a crucial role in enhancing and complementing the artwork. It can significantly impact the overall presentation and visual appeal of the piece. Investing in a well-crafted and appropriate frame is essential to showcase the artwork in its best light and protect it over time. While it may be tempting to cut costs after purchasing artwork, it is important not to overlook the importance of framing. ACC can provide valuable advice and guidance on selecting the right frame that complements the artwork, taking into consideration factors such as style, materials, and conservation needs.
A helping hand
Lucy and Flea have extensive knowledge and connections in the art world. Lucy's background as an artist and her impeccable taste in art and interiors, along with Flea's experience in Fine Art PR and working with leading galleries and Art Fairs, provide them with a deep understanding of the art industry.
ACC’s advisory arm can assist art lovers with buying. Whether clients are looking to purchase art for commercial or residential purposes, as a gift, or for a bespoke commission, ACC can guide them through the entire process. This includes helping clients choose the perfect piece, providing framing advice, arranging delivery, offering curation suggestions, and assisting with installation. The goal is to ensure that clients have a seamless and enjoyable art-buying experience!
