Nature-Based Design: Dream in Green

It is well founded that time spent in nature inspires and nourishes. But did you know that recent scientific research shows that nature-based design can trigger a similar wellbeing response?

I have been fascinated by a study that shows that visual and scent connections with nature can reduce stress, improve mood and elevate creativity. This has become a cornerstone for our inspiration, creating spaces inherently designed to instill calm and happiness.

More than 30 bedrooms, all lovingly restored and renovated, comprise the ‘village within a village’ that is Thyme. Every room is artfully decorated with botanical wallpapers and fabrics reflecting the surrounding habitats: Cutting Garden, Woodland, Kitchen Garden and Water Meadows.

Each botanical is hand-painted by Caryn, creative director and founder of Thyme. The interiors are wholly inspired by the outdoors. The effect is totally transportive.

The Rivermint Bedroom

We are delighted to unveil the newly renovated Rivermint bedroom, nestled in the eaves of the Farmhouse. Wallpapered in the signature Rivermint pattern throughout, the intention is - especially when submerged in a bath of Water Meadow bath salts - complete immersion into the serene haven of this wild conservation area.

Green possesses the power to instill a sense of calm and healing, of rest and renewal. According to Edward Bulmer, this could be because

“It can only be made up with a coalition of two pigments: yellow and blue, and is therefore a hue that results only from balance. Or, as it predominates in nature, we achieve a further reinforcing harmony by using it to decorate interiors.”

Edward Bulmer Natural Paint is packed full of the finest earth and mineral pigments. Their plant-based recipe is centered around protecting the planet’s finite resources.

Throughout our Rivermint bedroom, and on the roll top bath, we’ve used Edward Bulmer’s Tea Green and Fine Green, chosen expressly for their soothing and rejuvenating qualities.
