Bertioli x Flora Sardalos, Greek Prints
BERTIOLI | AT THYME
Our latest collaboration with Greek designer, Flora Sardalos, takes Bertioli on a summer sojourn to the Greek island of Samos. It was here that the dresses were first discovered by Camilla, enamoured by their voluminous fabric and billowing shapes. What better canvas upon which to imprint the intricately hand drawn designs of Bertioli’s Patterns of Nature?
As part of the story, it was interesting to explore the significance of each as a figure in Greek mythology. The olive tree was a gift by the goddess Athena to the city of Athens, and is a symbol of everlasting peace and friendship. The Almond Tree, as the first to flower usually in January or February, is associated with the rebirth of nature. Depicted as a rainbow, Iris was the goddess transporting messages from heaven to earth on the arc of a rainbow and was a companion to female souls on the way to heaven.
The dresses are locally made in 100% cotton, finished with Flora’s signature ribbon detail - either a classic rickrack or the emblematic Greek eye. The exclusive collection is about dressing with flair, transcending the seasons in evergreen olive and flaunting floral like a Grecian goddess! Each print also adorns matching linen table cloth and napkins.
This limited collection is available on our Take a Little Thyme site and in our shop at Thyme.
